I have a fascination with old architecture, and a bigger one with lamp posts. Ever since reading Narnia I look at lamp posts in a different way. I wonder if they are normal lamp posts, put there to do the dull task of giving off light to passerby, or if they are magical… grown out of a piece of iron, tossed aside and alive. There is something about lamp posts that I find fascinating, as odd as that may sound to those of you who do not see magic in every day things. 

When I get older I want a magnificent house overlooking a forest. A house with narrow secret passageways and hidden libraries. A house that you look at and know there are secrets buried in there. Good secrets. Secrets you want to discover. A house that turns even normal people into adventure seeking pirates, ready to conquer enemies and save the world. 

But this forest… it won’t be a normal forest, full of mundane trees of the regular sort… This forest will be full of lamp posts. Lamp posts of different sizes and shapes, from different time periods and countries. Maybe even from different worlds, if I happen to build my home near the Narnian Lamp Post.

A lamp post forest… that’s a happy thought.
